A
Killer Coaster is a highly focused Enterprise challenge for
up to 125 pupils per session. The event is specifically designed
to develop creative thinking, teamwork and communication skills.
Teams complete a 'construction training programme' in order
to consider structural requirements and building techniques.
They must apply these skills together with their imagination
and problem solving ability to design, build and market the
Theme Parks created. Teams can invest in specialised modelling
machines and a range of materials during the design and construction
phase.
Teams
are also challenged to identify the forces and energies experienced
by passengers on each ride in their park. They will calculate
the 'Thrill Factor, Fear Factor & Excitement Value' of
their park - based on potential and kinetic energy values.
The highest achieving teams will attempt to make measurements
of these values using their 'test riders' and their knowledge
of science. Teams must aim to build the most exciting theme
park in the world - but they must ensure they are not the
owners of a 'Killer Coaster!'
"Excellent.
It was challenging but fun..keeping all pupils on task - enjoying
themselves.
We will book this event again in the future"
