Science
Specific Training- Secondary Schools
Thinkers
in MicroScience
A
powerful combination of our 'Thinkers in Science' approach
with award-winning equipment
We
use MicroScience during our
in-school events because it allows pupils to conduct experimental
work on an individual level, in any classroom. The time
taken is drastically reduced and we can allow pupils to
conduct experiments they could not ordinarily perform. In
order to deliver this successfully, we became official trainers
for the use of MicroScience kits.
Our
hands-on workshop includes:
-
Rates
of reaction investigation:
Disappearing
cross experiment, with 8 concentrations, within 15
minutes!
-
Reactivity
Series - Displacement reactions.
-
Redox
Reactions
(Reduction
of Copper Oxide using Hydrogen Gas & The Electrolysis
of Brine)
-
Caving
Conundrum - The Marble Chip investigation, with an emphasis
on problem-solving!
-
Demonstration
of distillation using the award winning Combosil
We
provide all of the specialist equipment for the day
MicroScience
is becoming an important element in the science curriculum
and in exam specifications. It is an effective means of
providing hands-on practical science for pupils on an individual
level - allowing pupils to develop conceptual understanding
from practical work and personal experience more easily
than ever before.
-
MicroScience
equipment allows practical work to be carried out in
the smallest of classrooms
-
Requires minimal preparation.
-
It
reduces the amount of equipment needed in the lab
(the
Comboplate replaces 16 beakers & 48 test-tubes
but measures only 13 x 9 cm)
-
Drastically
reduces the quantity of chemicals used
-
Allows
practical work to be completed in a much shorter time
span
-
Creates
opportunities to conduct new or alternative experiments
-
Enables
science to be delivered as an experience ready for the
workplace
